Ys Origin came out in Japan in 2006, but wasn’t until the last few years that the US saw an XSEED-fueled resurgence for the series. Now that we have it, how well does it hold up six years later? Pretty well, actually. READ MORE

Wrath of the Lamb is technically a DLC pack for The Binding of Isaac. I say technically, because DLC typically adds a new character or a few new items. Isaac’s own Halloween update was like this; it added a new dungeon floor and a few new items. Wrath of the Lamb adds a new level, alternate versions of the old levels, a challenge mode, a new item type, and a slew of new items. Wrath of the Lamb is less DLC in the vein of Mass Effect 2’s side missions (which were fantastic and by no means bad DLC), and more expansion pack, like StarCraft: Brood War. You’re getting a whole new game to lay on top of the one you already own. READ MORE

With a name like Bang Bang Racing, right out of the box (well, download in this case), you’d likely be expecting something along the lines of a Twisted Metal-style racing with guns and such, or even something like Mario Kart where you shoot items at one another trying to over take one another in an extreme struggle to stay in first. Instead, it’s a Micro Machines-like racing game that doesn’t use any of those items at all. While that may be a surprise, it doesn’t make it any less of a decent game. READ MORE

I think of a lot of things when I think of vehicle combat games, and difficult racing is not one of them. Gas Guzzlers: Combat Carnage bills itself as an arcade racer, but in practice, it’s a punishing test of driving skill. READ MORE

Resonance is a point-and-click adventure game. If you know from the get-go that the genre isn’t for you, then nothing presented here is going to change that. You’ll spend your time collecting inventory items, paying attention to dialogue and trying to figure out how the items in your inventory go together just so to solve the puzzle that’s stumping you. If you are a fan of the genre, though, then there’s a lot for you here. Resonance is one of the best modern adventure games I’ve ever played. READ MORE
