Happy Thanksgiving

Put your controllers down for 5 minutes and visit with your family. Your parents and loved ones will be grateful for the time you spend with them.

Judge Not, Lest Ye Be Judged

insert credit was hosting a FFXII movie they apparently got (Read: bootlegged) from some sort of viewing courtesy of Square Enix. Apparently Square then contacted them and asked them to take it down. This resulted in a forum thread dedicated to the broken english of the Square employee. Apparently some people have taken issue with this and the whole thing makes me chuckle. I have nothing against either party so it makes no difference to me either way. I just find it humorous that they moved rather quickly to the "holier than though" card.

Child's Play

Penny Arcade is organizing a sort of Elf Louise meets the Santa Claus of Video Games. This event is being called Child's Play and you can read the full gamut of details (very bottom of the front page) on their site, but I wanted to encourage everyone that might want to do something nice for some children this year to donate a few bucks or a game or whatever. There is a wishlist setup on Amazon for these kids and it would be really awesome if the SB Community could help out in a big way as I know around the holidays a lot of people are looking for some simple ways to help out others.

EDIT: The PA Child's Play program has its own page now: Child's Play.

Why!?

Why the hell remake a game? Leave the past in the past, now we have Counter Strike on the Xbox. Everyone wanted to get it, however I refrained due to the horrid times I spent playing it on PC. I hate everyone I meet online with this game. I thought it would be different, its not. It still sucks. Trade bait. I know I will get flamed for this...

I dont speak for all of Snackbar. Although to Pic, this game blows.

Holiday season is here!

I remember shouting out for a Captain Power space craft. You know the ones that could interact with the television show. You could also shoot your pal’s plane and if you scored enough hits the little action figure inside would bail out. Now those were toys. Now we got about seven million Pokemon clones, not to mention cheap shit that you know will not last one hour with a kid. I used to rake in GI Joes, video games, cool gadgets. I guess long gone are those days. I am twenty three at the time and I know I wont get jack shit for Christmas, ‘cept maybe a hangover. Oh well, I’ll buy my own games.

As far as games go, a whole bunch are already out on shelves or are still being released. This is a great time to be a consumer, as always. We have our late night Live games and we can literally play a new game each night. If you visit our forums you will notice a new game announcement for Live play all the time. We love our crew.

Crimson Skies is legit. That’s all you need to know, its legit go get it.

Final Fantasy X2 is legit. Go get it.

Verdict is still out for Counter Strike though.

Sorting reviews

I added some more functionality to the reviews page. You can now sort by console and author. It should be pretty self explanatory and I also updated the browsing tips thread.

BIG WEEK!!

Yes Snackbarians its a never ending cycle. As the days for Christmas get shorter, the list for games just get longer. This is a big week for games as some HOT titles are released. Mario Kart: Double Dash for GC, XIII for the PC, Counter-Strike: CZ for the Xbox, Final Fantasy X2 (Pickle is drooling already) for the PS2, I-Ninja (Cone will be all up on that) and many other titles will hit the stores tommorrow. So make sure you check out your local EB Games to get your copies.

This freaked me the hell out when I stumbled upon it on Ubisofts website. I was in total freaking AWE!! Can you believe they will release this as an MMORPG. I will be all up on this, I hope Pickle will too. I can already see it, "I need an exit Pickle..freaking Agents everywhere!!". OH MY THIS WILL BE AWESOME. I hope it does'nt end up like Galaxies though.

Video Games are Bad

Did you know that video games are training children to kill? It was not until I was enlightened by Bill France this morning that I saw the light. Ok, so I think the article is really a bunch of ill-informed statements by someone with less than no expertise in the field, but it is a pretty funny read. This guy should go into writing satire.

While I am on the humor kick this morning, you need to read this article over on Seanbaby.com. If you object to profanity then you probably shouldn't read it.

Microsoft Announcement?

Saturday came and went without any type of announcement out of Redmond. While I can't say that I am shocked since news doesn't travel very fast on weekends, I will be very shocked if we don't hear anything out of them sometime today. I suppose it is entirely possible that the entire thought of there being a "big announcement" was a figment of someone's imagination to begin with. I suppose we may never know.

Dots and I spent a good chunk of time playing Halo yesterday and the rest of our time was spent playing TMNT. That was a mistake. Konami would have done better to repackage a 10 year old TMNT licensed game instead of releasing that wretched thing I spent so much time waiting for. I have a lot more to say about TMNT, but I will save it for the review.
