Texas Hold ‘em brings one of the most popular card (or should I just be obvious and say gambling?) games to the Xbox 360 marketplace. Does it live up to being as awesome as if playing in real life?
The answer to that is: no. Playing single player isn't all that fun, as it's not all that exciting playing against bots that will always try to win. If you try to make a move that might be a bit risky, all the bots fold. At least real players (people) are risk takers. Sometimes if you have a killer combination, and you think you will win, I suggest that you think again. Don't be surprised if there is someone with a pair of Aces, which will beat your hand and greatly annoy you.
There are, of course, numerous game modes in single player. There are tournaments of all sorts (local, national, international, and so on) and scenarios. For example, there are only two players left in the Grand Championship, you and a bot. Who can win? Nothing special, really.
Multiplayer is simply not very fun. The players are annoying most of the time (such as shouting obnoxious things about one of your relatives, etc), and their methods aren't too great either. It ruins the game when someone goes all in, without even seeing their cards!!
Only get Texas Hold ‘em for the Xbox 360 if you have no friends in real life. If you do, then this game is simply not worth your time, or your 800 MS points. Just get together with your friends, and play some real poker. But then again, if you don't have friends, this is the perfect poker game.
