Not shying away from the time-tested tradition of adding more subtitles to fighting games, Continuum Shift Extend is the latest revision of Arc System Works’ BlazBlue series. Extend is yet another “sequel” in the same vein Continuum Shift II was, focusing solely on character balance updates, and actually giving the previous DLC characters proper stories in the BlazBlue narrative. CSII never came out outside of arcades and handhelds though, so Extend brings that content plus more to both home consoles and the PlayStation Vita. READ MORE

TOP STORY: Pokemon White & Black 2 revealed

Nintendo made a big Pokemon announcement this weekend, revealing the first direct sequels in the Pokemon series: Pokemon Black & White 2. While this is a surprise by itself, the fact that they will be released only on the DS is probably a bigger surprise. The DS does have a much larger install base, but the popularity of the Pokemon franchise would have assured brisk sales of the 3DS upon release. No release window was given in the US, though it will be releasing this summer in Japan.

This year is turning out to be a much bigger year for the Wii than anyone would have expected, with Xenoblade Chronicles hitting the U.S. in April and the newly announced U.S. localization of The Last Story landing this summer from XSEED. To celebrate the reveal, check out this Nintendo of Europe trailer for the highly-anticipated title.

Since its release in 2004, Friedemann Friese’s Power Grid (published in the US by Rio Grande Games) has been one of the top-ranked games on BoardGameGeek, currently sitting at #5. It has won several awards, each one generally coinciding with its release in a new language. Combining auctions, resource management, and route-building, Power Grid will tax the skills of from two to six players like few other games.
