I was never real big on the Metal Gear Solid titles. This is due in part to my extreme lack of patience in my gaming. That aside, Konami has announced that they are going to be releasing a bundled MGS pack in the form of The Essential Collection for the Playstation 2.
The Essential Collection will carry a budget price tag of $29.99 and will come with the original Metal Gear Solid (PS), the director’s cut of Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3. All three titles come in a commemorative package with some special artwork courtesy of renowned MGS artist Yoji Shinkawa.
No release date has been given, but Konami has confirmed that it will be available before the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
It’s been a rough few weeks around here in case you hadn’t noticed. Problems with our webhosting company forced me to do an emergency migration of our forums to phpBB 3, which I wasn’t ready to do. That move in turn forced me to make some major modifications to our back end that prevented us from adding content to the site. To add insult to injury, the hosting company also disabled The Cover Project’s entire website forcing me to setup a new web host and move the site over late Friday evening. I think I finally have all the bugs worked out so we can get back into the groove around here. Thanks for being so patient.
The forums were overloading the server we are on so our host disabled them for the time being. I am working on upgrading and optimizing them to prevent them from bringing the server down. In the meantime, hang tight. I’ll let you know when things are back online.
The rest of the site will remain online during this time.
LucasArts just sent over a new batch of Fracture screens featuring a redesigned character model for the game’s main character, Jet Brody. Hit the jump for the images.
Bionic Commando was one of my favorite games back on the NES so news that a remake was in progress made my day. Capcom announced today that they were also remaking the classic 8-bit version of the game for Xbox LIVE Arcade and the Playstation Network. The remade version of the game is set to release sometime this spring.
Images included with the press release look pretty sweet and will be more than enough to hold me over until the next gen version of the game drops later this year. Hit the jump to see the gallery and read the full press release. READ MORE
