Resident Evil 5 in 2008?

December 22, 2006

It’s really been ages since the last pieces of information, screen shots, or videos surfaced from Resident Evil 5. However, there are rumors now that the game can, at the earliest, come out in 2008. Why? The developers are aiming for 60 FPS, which will take a lot of time. Not to mention that in the gameplay, things such as weather and temperature will play a big role, which, once again, takes lots of time to master. It’s certainly good that Capcom is trying to make the game as perfect as possible, but I’m sure many fans think that 2008 is so far away.

Why do games cost $60?

December 21, 2006

Forbes is carrying an article discussing why Xbox 360 games nowadays costs 60 dollars. The highlights are:

-$27 on actual development ($15 graphics and $12 on gameplay)
-$7 goes to Microsoft
-$3 marketing (and an additional 4% of the total)
-$3 manufacturing cost
-$1 for the publisher
-$3 miscellaneous costs
-Then the retailers get 25% profit

And as Bill Nye the Science Guy would say “and now you know!”

Since there pretty much is a “making of” video, when some Halo 3 news surfaces, this new video regarding the new, updated Brutes is now availiable for us to watch here.

New Kingdom Hearts Coming?

December 20, 2006

Everyone loves some contradiction every now and again. Tetsuya Nomura, producer of the Kingdom Hearts games, stated a while back that there won’t be a third Kingdom Hearts. Now it seems that there may be a new Kingdom Hearts game coming out, according to Dengeki PS magazine.

Since nothing else has been revealed, and knowing Square Enix, this game could be, quite literally, anything. Spin off (such as the FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus)? DS exclusive (ala Dragon Quest IX)? MMO (as with FFXI)? Movie (FFVII: Advent Children)? Discuss the possibilities in our forums.

Though we have previously reported Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass’ one year delay, rumor has it that Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for the Wii have now been pushed back to Q4, 2007. The reasons for the delays are not known.

Could this be a similar trend as with the Gamecube? An excellent game or two is released annually, and between that, only boring and generic things will come out on the console? Super Smash Bros. Brawl is supposedly coming out soon, but what’s after that? We shall have to wait and see…

Editor’s Note: This is currently unconfirmed. I will check with Nintendo today, but expect the blanket answer of “No comment” for now.
