Nintendo announcements at GDC keynote

Today during their GDC conference, Nintendo revealed a number of new features for the 3DS and a new trailer for Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Information and trailer after the break.

They revealed that Netflix will be available on the 3DS. It will be able to interact with your Wii to transfer shows and movies watched on the 3DS on the go over to the TV and Wii, and vice versa. Additionally, a video marketplace will be available with 3D movie trailers and music videos.

It will also have built-in connectivity for AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots, enabling automatic connections on the go.

Next, SpotPass will allow automatic downloads for game content, on the go, whether you have the game in the DS or not. It will check for Spotpass information in your profile.

The 3DS Virtual Console will also feature TurboGrafx-16 and Game Gear titles, in addition to Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Unfortunately, the Virtual Console will not be ready until late May.

A surprise announcement: a new 3DS Mario game is in development by the Super Mario Galaxy team. The temporary logo appears to have a tanooki suit tail on it. More info won’t be revealed until E3.
