December 2006

Recently, Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the Metal Gear games, gave an interview regarding the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4. Here are some details.

– Kojima didn’t comment on the “young Snake” at the end of the TGS trailer, but said that the injections Snake would give himself in the neck are extremely important (meaning a difference between life and death).

– Weapons will be customizable, and according to Kojima, we will be suprised to what extent. He also said that there will be plenty of existing and under going development weapons.

– The suit that Snake will be wearing will only change in appearence, but not in size. What this means, is that you will be able to go against walls, but if you want to be an apple, that won’t work.

– Raiden will not be a playable character.

– There are concrete ideas about how MGS: Portable Ops for the PSP will be compatible with MGS 4, though Kojima revealed no more.

– The state of mind of your enemies will be important. For example, if you scare the crap out of them somehow, they won’t search for you as long.

– As it was previoulsy revealed, you can join forces with both sides in the war, and if you want, both at the same time. Most often, you will ally yourself, not with who you might think is better, but with who you think will help you stay alive longer in battle.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming in one year…

Microsoft sent over a few more pictures of the Blue Dragon Launch in Yodobashi Camera Akiba, which is a huge retail store in Tokyo. They said over 200 people were on hand for the launch, which is a far cry different from the 360 launch in Japan. The lady in blue you see featured in many of these pictures is one of Japan’s top models, Yoki Horiuchi. She is apparently a big fan of Akira Toriyama, the artist behind the game. I bet she is, Microsoft, I bet she is.

Wii launched in Europe

December 8, 2006

The Nintendo Wii has finally launched all over Europe! Though there are no details as to how many units were sold, it seems shortages are rampant everywhere. In Paris, France for example, there was bigger hype about the Wii than the Xbox 360 last year. In London, England, almost all Wiis were sold, and it will be impossible to get a system until January. This all happened at the pre-launch event(s), so if you are in London now, then chances are you won’t be able to find a Wii anywhere (except eBay) on launch day! Long lines plagued pre-launch events everywhere, such as the Virgin Megastore in Paris (pictures here), and at the HMV on Oxford Street in London as well. Happy gaming everybody!

Though the teaser premiered at the Tokyo Game Show, it has only now been made public. Versus XIII will be a part of the Final Fantasy XIII universe, which will consist of a number of games. Versus XIII has only been announced for the PS3.

The fifth (!!) expansion to the extremely popular game, Sims 2, entitled “Seasons”, is in the works. The expansion will center around seasonal relaxations, such as building snowmen or having pool parties. Of course, the seasons will determine what you can do. The game is slated for a February 2007 release.
