Pokemon has been a craze since it debuted in the US more than 10 years ago and the newest game in the franchinse is but a week away. Nintendo announced plans to hold a launch party for the game at the Nintendo World Store in NYC on March 21st, a day before it’s available anywhere else. Gamer’s will get a chance to demo AND purchase Pokemon Platinum early while hanging out with other Pokemon fans.

This week’s Wii Shop Channel updates feature a little bit of the retro with a VC release of Summer Games II (C64) and a WiiWare release of BIT.TRIP BEAT from Aksys Games.
Summer Games II is a simple re-release of the Olympic Games title from the C64 and will cost you 500 Wii Points. BIT.TRIP BEAT is an original rhythm game that allows you to use your controller to bounce beats. Konami sent over a few more screens for the upcoming port of Metal Gear Solid for the iPhone aptly titled Metal Gear Solid Touch. MGS Touch is based on the most recent MGS title, Guns of the Patriots.

Capcom’s Xbox 360 blockbuster, Dead Rising, has finally made it’s way to the Wii in the form of Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop and has shipped to retail today. Chop Till You Drop takes advantage of the same technology that brought Resident Evil 4 to the Wii and features a more immersive gaming experience as gamers utilize the Wii Remote as their weapon of choice to shoot, slash, and bash their way through hordes of zombies.
