Mass Effect Goes Gold

Microsoft and BioWare announced today that their new Action RPG, Mass Effect, has officially gone gold. The game will come in 2 varieties including a standard edition as well as a limited collector’s edition for a few bucks more.

The collectors edition will be available at certain retails and includes the following bonus material:

  • Mass Effect fiction book titled “Galactic Codex: Essentials
  • Mass Effect art book titled “A Future Imagined”
  • Bonus DVD of Mass Effect background material and additional content

The Bonus DVD includes a trio of documentaries covering the making of the new game, a behind the scenes look at BioWare, and something called “Interactive Storytelling”. It also includes 16 new dashboard themes and 18 gamer pics as well as 10 songs from the game soundtrack.

Gamers who pre-order Mass Effect will get yet another bonus disc, while supplies last, that includes another documentary, 12 gamer pics, 8 dashboard themes, 3 songs from the soundtrack and much more. No word if these assets are the ones that appear on the full blown Bonus DVD or additional content only available on this disc.

Mass Effect will be available on November 20th for the Xbox 360.
