Harmonix and MTV Games announced today that the PlayStation 3 version of Rock Band 2 will be available on October 19, 2008. The PlayStation 2 and Wii versions of Rock Band 2 will ship to retailers in December of 2008. Additionally, the Rock Band 2 Special Edition Bundle will also be available on October 19, 2008 for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game consoles.
Rock Band 2 for the Wii is fully featured with online modes including World Tour and Battle of the Bands. A 100 song Rock Band 2 Wii soundtrack and an additional 30 downloadable tracks will be available at launch. Expect a weekly dose of DLC every week until the entire Rock Band 2 catalog is available.
