Sony revamps the PSX

March 16, 2005

There was a lot of speculation that Sony would be killing off the PSX in Japan when they announced they were stopping production of the current models. It appears the opposite of that is true as Sony announced today that they were releasing new models that allowed users to export video clips from the built in DVR to a Memory Stick Duo for use in the PSP. A 512MB stick will hold 60 minutes of high quality video or 110 minutes of low quality video. Sony is also planning to release a firmware update for PSX owners as far back as the DESR-7500 and 5500 models. The new units will sell for $767 and $575 respectively.

I still find those prices to be outrageous.
