Snackbar Games’ streaming event, Mario Kart 500, will take place Sunday, March 29 beginning at noon EDT and continuing for well into the evening hours. We’ll be raising money for Child’s Play and even giving away a few prizes. This event’s brought to you by the people who ran Brawl Night Long. (We’ll have the kinks worked out better this time.)

Microsoft kicks off its “Days of Arcade” promotion today with the release of Hasbro Family Game Night. Normal XBLA games are priced at $5, $10, or $15. In order to play the four games released today (Battleship, Connect 4, Yahtzee, and Scrabble) you’ll have to cough up $40. That’s what Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (one of my favorites from last year) debuted at. As a bonus it wasn’t a game composed entirely of rolling dice or picking squares off of a grid at random. BioWare just officially announced Mass Effect 2, a sequel to the stellar RPG fro 2007. Mass Effect 2 is tentatively being dated for 2010 and is currently only slated for release on Xbox 360 and PC. A teaser trailer is available on MassEffect.com. READ MORE
Harmonix and MTV announced 11 new tracks for Rock Band Music Store for Wii today. The tracks are all original master recordings and include songs from The Who, James Brown, Earth Wind & Fire, Papa Roach and more.
