
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair hit Xbox Live Arcade back in what seems like a different era now in the downloadable game space. In the intervening time, much has changed, from quality and expectations to price and big-studio presence. Now, it finally sees life on the PlayStation 3, and the new era both helps and hurts its prospects. Thankfully, it’s bringing along a few reinforcements. READ MORE

Rotastic is an odd game to describe. It looks like Castle Crashers and plays like Cut the Rope and Peggle having a wild time at night, with all the collection elements of Bejeweled. Regardless, the game still manages to hold its own charming personality. READ MORE

It’s easy to write off a sequel, even a big-name one, as just more of the same. And much of the time you’re right to do so. I enjoyed Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood immensely, but it legitimately felt like Assassin’s Creed 2, Part 2. Gears of War 3 certainly feels like a continuation of the story set down in the first two installments, but even taken alone it is a well-polished package full to the brim with well-executed content that, above all else, is fun and engaging to play. Dead Island is like Left 4 Dead meets Borderlands on vacation together at beautiful, sunny, tropical Banoi. It isn’t quite as awesome as that sounds, due to some hiccups regarding the co-op, but it’s a solid take on the survival horror genre that stands up well against the new classics. READ MORE

We’d like to tell you a tale of two games. Both games were created in the ’80s. Both were, in one form or another, ’90s office obsessions, stealing minutes of productivity from computer-users everywhere. One continued its success with multiple popular incarnations on every device imaginable, seeing twists on and ripoffs of the formula. The other faded into relative obscurity.
