The King of Fighters franchise has had a hard time finding a comfortable spot since making the transition to the current generation. Street Fighter managed to reimagine itself a fourth time. Mortal Kombat, after a slew of average PS2 games, was able to revive itself and shine. Even Tekken managed to polish itself further and refine its gameplay, as well as bring even more beautiful visuals to the table. READ MORE

Killing zombies. The concept has largely been driven into the ground. Smaller developers, like Kuju’s Doublesix studio, have taken advantage of this reliable ubiquity, knowing they can have a bit of fun with the mechanics without worrying about marketability. The team previously released Burn, Zombie, Burn! on PSN, but All Zombies Must Die! takes the formula, expands on the co-op options and puts in an upgrade system to combat the monotony of taking out zombie waves. Retro revivals are great. I love to death that the classics are being introduced to current gaming audiences by means of a fresh coat of paint and fleshing out the original game without betraying the original premise. Bionic Commando ReArmed, Lode Runner and Rush ‘N Attack: Ex Patriot are enough for me to confidently say that this movement has been a successful one. Now, Choplifter HD brings the number of quick and easy-to-defend classics made new that everybody should play to four. READ MORE

Right on the heels of releasing the download-only NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, EA Sports has dusted off another former Midway license and brought back the original NFL arcade masterpiece: NFL Blitz. A hit in the late ‘90s, the series spawned console releases for six straight years before sequel fatigue led to poor sales and an eventual cancellation.
