
When I first heard that Uncharted was coming to the Vita, I felt trepidation over how it would turn out. When I heard it was going to have touch and tilt controls, I decided that there was no way it would be able to compare to the console titles.

The Dynasty Warriors series certainly has its share of detractors at this point, but all that iteration means developer Omega Force knows a lot about slashing packs of dudes. You know what you’re getting here: Chinese warriors with cool, big weapons, wiping though hordes of enemies and taking out opposing officers. Though the series has taken some turns in the past that were questionable, with the Vita launch, the Dynasty Warriors Next team took it back to what worked and made that as good as it could. One of the first downloadable titles available for the PlayStation Vita, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is a 2D puzzle platformer and a follow-up to last year’s Tales From Space: About a Blob. This title focuses on a lot of the same basic gameplay found in that original title, but it also utilizes some of the Vita’s features in an engaging way. READ MORE

Lumines has been away from handhelds for a while, appearing in two console-exclusive titles, but both failed to re-capture what made the original game so incredible back during the PSP’s launch in 2004. And here we are, eight years later, with Lumines: Electronic Symphony, proving that this franchise feels right at home on a handheld. READ MORE

Jagged Alliance: Back in Action has a lot going for it, but it also has enough going against it that I can’t recommend it to fans of the original or newcomers to the genre. It’s too hard for its own good, ideas are half put-together, and some of the design ideas, while fine on their own, are wildly incompatible with one another. I wanted to like Back in Action, and it makes me sad that I just don’t. READ MORE
