Daedalic’s Deponia ended on a very abrupt note, with the promise of more shenanigans to come. Chaos on Deponia certainly lives up to that billing, though it has the odd distinction of being a poor sequel yet a great stand-alone game. READ MORE

The PSP has seen a surplus of off-kilter RPGs in the twilight of its life, even in America, where it is no longer even considered a viable platform in the eyes of the general public. This is due mostly to the fact that Western game companies refuse to develop for the hardware at this point, and thus the only games being made for it at all are from Japanese developers. Games such as Ragnarok Tactics can be released stateside with relatively few resources, and these titles are arguably all that are keeping the system alive now. READ MORE

At the Wii U launch, Madden isn’t exactly the most exciting property, but there are definitely some obvious cool things the hardware can help the series. Calling plays on the GamePad sounds like a cool idea, and there are certainly times when anyone else in the room would rather be doing something else than watching you play a football game for the next few hours. Madden NFL 13 delivers on some of the potential, but it just isn’t the full product it likely will be next year.

If it wasn’t clear before that Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet is kind of a big deal, look no further than the addition of a goofy kart racer to the canon of the franchise for a towering heap of evidence. Aptly (though somewhat-awkwardly) titled LittleBigPlanet Karting, the game brings yet another helping of character customization and user-created levels while dropping the adorably creepy Sackboy mascots into little racecars held together with cardboard and soda cans.

Kart racers seem to be a sort of developer champagne toast, a celebration of the guaranteed money-printing capabilities of a successful property, new or old. Sometimes, they’re even fun to play! READ MORE

The Wii had Wii Sports, and it was meant to show off the fact that Nintendo believes anyone can be a gamer. It succeeded in that goal, propelling the Wii into the record books. Now, with Nintendo tasked with finding a way to replicate that success, they’ve turned to Nintendo Land to do so. Just like Wii Sports, the goal here is to showcase the ability of the GamePad to provide new ways of playing games. And it results in a rather interesting collection of games, that all add up to a solid party title. READ MORE
