
As I sat on my couch playing Class of Heroes II, I found myself complaining a lot. Not out loud, mind you; the only other person around right now is my infant son, and he’s more interested in throwing my DVD collection on the floor. No, just grumbling to myself. Class of Heroes II is a messy game, with a lot of little logistical problems that make the game clunky at times. However, something must be wrong with me, because I can hardly stop playing it. The talented folks at Insomniac Games, once Sony-exclusive developers focusing only on PlayStation platforms, have now shifted gears and released their first multiplatform title. Fuse, a cooperative third-person shooter, is the company’s attempt to branch out and try something a little different. While it’s less Ratchet & Clank and more Resistance in terms of tone and atmosphere, it still maintains a lot of what makes Insomniac’s games so enjoyable in the first place even if it is a lesser product than its previous efforts.

Ready for this year’s E3? We’re here to help, with a look at the what the Big Three will be up to at next week’s events.
Microsoft
What we know: The company’s big Monday morning event will focus on games for the Xbox One, as well as at least something 360-related. It’s already shown off the box and given a release window, so it doesn’t have that to spend time on, and it’s also taken care of its annual Call of Duty showcase. There are 15 launch-year Microsoft releases for the One, and we know a handful already, like Forza Motorsport 5 and Quantum Break.

Ever think about the way you play games these days? By that, I mean the way you approach games, how you feel about tutorials, guides or FAQs, and how easy it is to go back to older games. Do you ever wonder if we are being coddled? Are games actually considered “easier,” or is it just another way of saying they are easier for others to jump into? Are in-game tutorials just a way for developers to compensate for the potential new and complex mechanics in games? These mechanics may not be complex for us, as people who grew up with (or at least have a decent amount of experience with) games, but they might be for those with a desire to start playing now.
