In Greater Than Games’s Sentinels of the Multiverse, not only did many of the heroes (and villains) bear a resemblance to popular comic book characters, but the environments did as well. The base set gave us The Wraith, a female Batman equivalent without the childhood trauma, but the only urban city environment, Megalopolis, felt more like Superman’s (or in the case of Sentinels, Legacy’s) Metropolis than the game’s Gotham City. That particular location, Rook City (dubbed “Crook City” by some graffiti on the back of its cards), would be found in— and serve as the title for— the first expansion for Sentinels. It is every bit as dark and dangerous as its inspiration, and it is not alone in that respect. READ MORE

297: The Molydeuxds: This game represents a conglomeration of some of Molydeux’s worst ideas. There is a big, Populous-style map. I killed all of one tribe and nothing happened, and didn’t have the patience to eat the rest of them. Each character is supposed to represent a person. READ MORE

Snapshot is a game that’s been shown off a lot of places for a long time. Sadly, this is often the case with indie titles that are just waiting for a publisher to reach a wider audience. Luckily, it’s finally hitting Steam in the next few months, followed (hopefully) by a PSN release this fall. READ MORE

Tactical RPGs just belong on portables. There’s something about them that works best to fill any amount of time, and they don’t lose anything from being on a smaller or less-powerful device. We saw that with the first two Disgaea PSP ports, and Absence of Detention, a port of  2008 PS3 title Absence of Justice, is no different: this is where the series belongs. READ MORE
